Hello Everyone !

The holidays are here, and while we’re all busy untangling Christmas lights, it’s time to add a little extra sparkle to your decor. This year, I decided to take an MDF Christmas cart and turn it into a rustic, vintage-inspired decor using Perfect Paints.

Let’s dive into how I took this cart from "meh" to "wow" and gave it that aged, rustic look that’ll make your guests wonder if it’s been passed down through generations of jolly, gift-giving elves.

Materials Used:

  • Perfect Paints Shimmering Matte Acrylic "Halo"

  • Perfect Paints Shimmering Matte Acrylic "Red Wagon"

  • Perfect Paints Shimmering Matte Acrylic "Aged Copper"

  • Perfect Paints "Icicle" Polishing Plaster

  • Perfect Paints "Whipped Caramel" Polishing Plaster

  • Sentiment Stencil

  • Palette Knife

  • A Few Brushes and Sponges

I started by slathering the whole cart in Halo, a shimmering matte acrylic that gives it the soft, frosty look of snow—but without the freezing cold. This gave the cart a beautiful, snow-like backdrop.

Now that we’ve got a winter base, it’s time for the cart to show off a little personality. I used a stencil and Icicle Polishing Plaster to add some cute holiday words. You can pick whatever message makes you feel jolly.

Now for the magic. I grabbed Red Wagon shimmering matte acrylic, and used a sponge to dab it on unevenly, so it looked like the paint had worn off over time.

To make it look really old-school and rustic, I pulled out Aged Copper shimmering matte acrylic. This paint does wonders.

Time to give it some depth, because nothing says rustic like texture. I grabbed my trusty palette knife and spread some Whipped Caramel polishing plaster to add layers of dimension. This step makes the cart feel like it’s got stories to tell.

Let everything dry and get ready to fill this beauty up with gifts, ornaments, or whatever else you want to look super chic this holiday season. You could even load it with treats for guests.

Plus, it’s an easy project that gives you a reason to take a break from the holiday chaos and just enjoy the magic of crafting.
