Hello Creatives!
How is it really August? I'm still celebrating Spring with this mixed media collage style flat canvas board project that was completely inspired by the quote, "Friendship is a Sheltering Tree".
I am determined to use up all of the pretty scraps of leftover papers and supplies I have laying around the art studio. That's how it all began! :o)
SUPPLIES: Perfect Paints Shimmering Matte Acrylics #1004 Spring Green and
Polishing Plaster #1072 Gilded Azure
Other Supplies: 8 x 10" canvas board, 1 sheet of white cardstock, Scrapbook paper scraps (tags and alphabet letter stickers) Basic Grey Stella Ruby, old book pages, dark green tissue paper, leaf paper punch, bamboo paper, clear plastic, 4 mini brads, sentiment sticker, adhesives, and a tree branch.
Instructions:
Begin by covering the canvas board with pieces of scrapbook paper, creating a collaged background. I used an entire sheet of tag elements from the Basic Grey Stella Ruby Collection.
Mixed Media Collage 2. Next, add an entire alphabet twice. I used the sticker sheet from the Stella Ruby collection, one set of the large size and one of the small size.
Mixed Media Collage Rub Perfect Paints Polishing Plaster #1072 Gilded Azure around the edges and in random spots throughout the background.
Mixed Media Collage Glue crumpled and wrinkly dark green tissue paper to a piece of white cardstock. Cover the white cardstock completely with a liquid glue using a paint brush or sponge brush. Press down gently with your hands and then roll to flatten with a brayer. Let dry completely.

Dry brush the tissue paper with Perfect Paints Shimmering Matte Acrylics #1004 Spring Green and paint over a book page, too. Notice the shifting effect of the paint. From one angle it looks quite Kelly green, but when the light hits it, it's shimmery gold. Let the paint dry completely.
Mixed Media Collage Using a leaf shaped paper punch, punch many leaves from both the tissue paper sheet and the book page.
Mixed Media Collage Glue the tree branch onto the background and arrange the punched leaves along the branches. Add more branches and leaves as desired. I used hot glue for this step.
Cut a strip of specialty paper to the size of the sentiment. Rub the edges with Perfect Paints Polishing Plaster #1072 Gilded Azure. Because the bamboo paper was so textured, I cut a piece of clear plastic to overlay it. I put the sticker directly on the clear plastic and attached the plastic to the bamboo paper with 4 mini brads then glued it to the background. Because the mini brads created bulk at the edges, I cut a small rectangle of chipboard and glued it behind the sentiment box.

I hope you are inspired to create something beautiful today!
Happy August!
