Supplies:

Upcycled item

Craft paint

Perfect Paints Shimmering Matte Acrylics in Vintage Mercury, Copper and Bright Gold

Palette knife

Stencil

Laser cut letters

Let me introduce you to this vintage wood ironing board. The legs do not even fasten to both ends. When it is folded out, they rest on a little ledge of wood.

To start off with we cleaned it up really well. I thought about sanding it but decided to hold off and come back to that later.

I found the stencil I wanted to use and started painting with a foam roller. I used an off white chalk paint.

While the paint was still wet, I took a palette knife and began layering the Perfect Paints Clear Texture Gel over certain areas and then topped off with the Vintage Mercury and Pearl Plaster. By using a sponge roller, I was able to add the combination of products evenly amongst different areas of the board.

I love the added texture from the gel and the hint of color from the acrylics and Pearl Plaster.

Now paint the wooded letters black and sand edges. I added a little bit of the Matte Acrylics in Copper as a shadowing on each letter. Adhere to the board.

I then went back through and added little touches of Perfect Paints Matte Acrylic in Bright Gold to the centers of the flowers.

To finish off the board I wrapped hemp string around the middle so that it would also hold the legs together. I love how this old ironing board is now a focal piece.

Happy Crafting and until next time...
