Hello Creative People! It’s Becky here, and I’m thrilled to share my latest endeavor with you—a festive winter book stack that's sure to bring warmth and joy to your Holiday season. As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisper, there’s something wonderfully comforting about decorating for the Holiday season. Join me as we celebrate the spirit of the season, and discover how to create the perfect winter stacked book project using Perfect Paints and Shimmering Stucco.
SUPPLIES:
Perfect Shimmering Matte Acrylics #1035 Honey Gold
Shimmering Stucco #1051
OTHER: White acrylic paint, printed image in a comparable size to the book stack, adhesives, cutting tools, faux greenery, glittered leaf branch, ribbon, silver star garland, bird ornament
INSTRUCTIONS:
Select 5 books that are similar in size and thickness. Paint the covers white, including edges and anything that shows outside of the pages. Paint the pages of the closed book with Perfect Shimmering Matte Acrylics #1035 Honey Gold.
Print your image on quality image paper of your choice.
Determine the order of the books and begin cutting the image into strips to match the width of the spine of each book. I flushed my books to the left, instead of centering the shorter ones. (I did paint the books before this step, but forgot to take a photo to show you :o)
Glue the strips of image to the spines.
Use a strong adhesive (E-6000) and a combination of hot glue to glue all of the books together in a stack.
Seal the images on the book spines and add shine with Perfect Gloss Medium and Varnish #1200.
Apply a generous amount of white glitter to the top of the stack to make "snow". I tried 2 layers of Mod Podge and glitter, but it just wasn't enough coverage for me. So, I used Shimmering Stucco #1051 and another layer of glitter and that did the trick!
Lay ribbon across the long length of the top and bring it down around the bottom. Criss cross and bring it up the front and back (but a little to one side as to not be right in the center of your image) to the top and make a bow.
Hot glue the glittery leaves and faux greenery, tucking the ends under the ribbon and bow.
Make another bow with short tails to add onto the other bow for dimension and height.
Glue the bird ornament into place.
Cut stars and sections of the star garland to embellish the silver ribbon on all sides.
I hope you are inspired to create your own book stack project.
Make art every day!
Becky
