Good morning, friends! I have been wanting to play with Mintay's Woodies...and thought I would grab a variety of Matte Shimmering Acrylics and just play... I got a little messy flinging paint around like I was Jackson Pollock, but it was so much fun!

I must admit, this didn't turn out exactly as planned...but I still had fun getting messy. It's not my favorite, but I spent a lot of time on this piece so I decided to share how I created this project in hopes of inspiring you in some way.

Four-panel collage of a DIY wood kit construction. Includes glue, wooden pieces, and a partially painted white box on a crafting mat.

To begin, I glued the wooden pieces together and I used tape to hold it together until it was completely dry. Once the glue was completely dry, I added a coate of White Gesso. I let the White Gesso dry before I used a palette knife to pull the Modeling Paste through the stencil to create texture.

I used the Perfect Glaze Medium to glue the camera lens pieces together. Next, I sprayed glossy spray inside the box to add color. After that, I covered the front of the box using the Rainstorm Shimmering Matte Acrylics.

I let the Rainstorm Shimmering Matte Acrylics dry before using a tiny paint brush to paint the images using other colors in the shades of Peony, Ballet Slipper, Rain Slicker, Peacock Blue, and Mermaid Tail. I let it dry a bit before I used the paint brushes to fling all the colors all over the box to make it look more abstract similar to how Jackson Pollock creates his master pieces. This part got messy, but it was so much fun just playing...

As you can see, art isn't perfect, but the process of creating is invigorating. I enjoyed the process of this project even though it's not a favorite of mine and that's what matters. Thank you so much for visiting today!
