Hey y'all! Michelle here again! Have you ever had one of those brain block days where you want to create but you just don't know what? It's a running in the background day! Bust out the Perfect Paints and stencils and make some fun backgrounds so when the inspiration strikes you won't be looking at a blank white paper. You will be ready to get started! So let's start running in the background!

Hand holding yellow sponge applies blue paint over detailed stencil on wooden table; open jar of paint nearby. Creative and focused scene.
Adding Bohemian blue SMA to a stencil

I started by using a foam sponge paint dabber to apply some  Bohemian Blue Shimmering Matte Acrylic paint to a portion of a stencil about the size of an ATC.

Stencil lifted from a paper with abstract blue patterns on a wooden table. The scene suggests creative art-making in progress.
This was the result and although it was lovely, I was more intrigued with what the reverse of the stencil would create

Stencil with abstract cutouts lifted from blue painted paper on a wooden table. Patterns create a bold design, evoking a creative mood.
I placed a blank ATC sized card down and pressed the freshly painted stencil on top and pressed down to transfer the excess paint to it. This was the look I was going for. But there was STILL paint left!

Hand peeling paper from blue paint pattern on white stencil, revealing intricate design. Wooden table in background, warm lighting.

So I repeated the process, brushing a bit of water first this time and then pressing another blank card on top the stencil. This top it just gave off somewhat of a ghost image, but still a great look.

Patterned stencil with three blue and white abstract prints on a wooden table. The prints feature organic, flowing shapes.
This is the progression of the looks. I really love how they turned out all so unique and organic.

A hand holds a stencil on a table, with a paint sponge applying pink shimmer paste from a jar labeled "Perfect."
I also did one with the Frosted Rose Shimmering Matte Acrylic for a more floral look

Stencil on a wooden table with pink textured paste, floral pattern on a small card. Nearby, an open jar of pink V&Co paste.
This was the result of the traditional stencil look

Hand peeling stencil revealing pink paint pattern on white paper, jar of rose gold paint nearby on a transparent surface. Creative mood.
And then I flipped it over and transferred the excess paint to another black card for a more weathered look

Four textured cards with abstract patterns in gold, blue, green, and pink on a wooden surface. Patterns include leaves and geometric shapes.
As you can see I continued the technique with other stencils and Shimmering Matte Acrylic paint colors (Northern Lights & Espresso) and just had a blast playing!

I highly recommend you try this next time you get in a funk and just have fun making some backgrounds for a few cards to use in the future. Now next time I sit down I've got a jump start on my creations!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you were created to make something beautiful!
