"DIY Home Decor: How to Create Faux Books with Perfect Paints"
Hi all! Hope you are having an amazing February so far! Today I want to show you how easy it is to make some DIY home decor faux stacking books....and you don't need books! As you know...wood is my go-to craft base. I love how versatile it can be. This is a quick project that can be completed in less than an hour.
Supplies:
Perfect Paints Shimmering Matte Acrylic Paints
3 - 1x6 blocks of wood cut at 7" long
Sander
Wood glue
Handmade Modern Acrylic Paint in Oxford Blue and Cream
Apple Barn White Craft Paint
Recollections Rubber Stamp set
Twine
Perfect Paints Shimmering Acrylic in Rainstorm, Halo, Moss Green, Spring Green and Ballet Slippers
Instructions:
Cut your wood blocks to 7" long and sand the rough edges. Using wood glue adhere the blocks together and let dry. I use a fast drying glue.
Paint the blocks with the Oxford Blue acrylic paint adding some of the Shimmering Matte Acrylic paint in Rainstorm. This will give you a shimmer to your books. The shimmer is one of my favorite things about Perfect Paints Shimmering Acrylic Paints!
Once the wood has dried, I sanded the wood to rough up the edges. Using the white acrylic paint I just started painting flowers onto the blocks.
I added touches of Halo Shimmering Matte Acrylic paints to define the petals and give them some shine! I added a dab of Ballet Slipper Shimmering Matte Acrylic in the center of the flowers. For the leaves, I used Vintage Patina and Spring Green.
Adding the lettering can be a little tricky but I think the imperfection adds an extra touch to stamped books.
I used a rubber stamp set and some white acrylic paint to add the lettering.
Attach the twine and you are done with a cute addition to any shelf or table.
