Be Brave Mixed Media Art
Hi everyone! Can you believe it is September already? I love the fall and cool, crisp mornings. Add coffee and some crafting for the perfect Fall day.
Today I would love to share with you my little piece of mixed media art made from scraps and Perfect Paints Shimmering Acrylic Paints! I rumbled through my husband's scrap wood pile and this piece of art was born!!

Here are the supplies you will need:
1x6 piece of wood cut at any length but I used 10"
Frame trim strips
Apple Barrel White Paint
49 & Market Serenity Ephemera Bits
49 & Market Tranquility Laser Cut Wildflowers
Tim Holtz Theories Quote Chips
Prisma Vines
Perfect Paints Shimmering Matte Acrylic in Halo and Vintage Patina

I started off by taking my scrap wood and layering about 3 coats of white paint. I wanted a good coverage.

Once the paint was dry I went over the top with Perfect Paints Shimmering Matte Acrylic Paint in Halo. Just brush on randomly. This paint has a fantastic shimmer so when the light hits it...it's simply WOW. And...it dries so super-fast so you don't have to wait long for the next step.

Now we just start layering and laying things out the way I want it to look. I used the 49 & Market Ephemera Bits and Laser cuts. Once I have it exactly the way I want it I brushed on a good coat of Mod Podge and then layered my laser cuts...adding Mod Podge over the top before adding more layers. Set this aside and let it dry for about 30 minutes.

I then took the Prisma Vine and glued it down the length of the wood.
Once it was dry I then used the Perfect Paints Shimmering Acrylic in Vintage Patina to add some sparkle to the leaves. Add some more butterflies from the Ephemera Bits...and for some added depth I folded their wings. Glue down a couple of the Tim Holtz Theories Quotes. My theme for this artwork is to Be Brave...spread your wings....and live your life. Don't let anything hold you back!!

As you will find with a lot of my work I always finish up with a little black pen detail work but this is not something you have to do. This makes the cutest little addition to a book shelf.
Have a great week - Becky
