Technique Thursday!

Happy creative Thursday! If you are like me, you enjoy using paints and mediums to create some cool techniques! Perfect Paints are easy to use, unique and they work well together! Each Thursday, i will be sharing quick technique projects to show how versatile they are!

My Shimmering Matte Acrylics are not only beautiful but are extremely durable - they can be used outdoors* (for added extended outdoor protection add a durable outdoor varnish} and on fabric without the need for fabric medium, wood, leather, glass and many many other surfaces! These Artistic quality paints that are medium bodied but can also be thinned with Perfect Glaze to create a glaze or watercolor effect or thickened using my Perfect Thickening medium to take on the characteristics of oil or encaustic paints ! Best of all my paints do NOT contain fillers or dyes, which means they won't fade!

Today I am sharing a couple of techniques using the Shimmering Matte Acrylics!

This first tag i simply painted the background of the tag using SMA Peacock blue.

Once dry i placed a Martha Stewart silk screen {love these} over the tag adding three SMA colors {cajun orange, bright gold and sangria} and spread it lightly through the stencil using a palette knife.

To dye the ribbon i started with May Arts white wrinkled ribbon by spraying it lightly with water. I simply painted on some of the SMA Sangria and sprayed to move the paint on the ribbon. Once dry, i wrapped it around the tag!

My second tag today uses Shimmering Matte Acrylics with the Perfect Glaze Medium!

I started with a sheet of Bazzil white embossed cardstock cutting out a section of leaves. I also cut a tag from the embossed cardstock {using an existing tag as a template} and matted it to back cardstock for additional weight.

I mixed a small amount of the cajun orange, red wagon, peacock and bright gold with 30% of my Perfect Glaze {Perfect Glaze adds thins the paint and adds transparency creating a glaze consistency}. I painted a chipboard bird and the cardstock leaves. Once dry i adhere them to the tag adding a small piece of May Arts Bakers twine!

Small highlights and details were added using back and white fine line detail pens.
