"For I know the plans I have for you"

May 3, 2017

I have been creating art for as long as I can remember. As a little girl I would always getting excited for Sunday so that I could sit down with the Sunday paper comics and draw Snoopy and Garfield. Over the years art followed me into High School where I enjoyed furthering my craft into pen & ink drawings and entering into Art contests!

After school, I became a mom of two and art was put aside for many years.   It wasn't until i found scrapbooking that I slowly began my journey back into the art world!  For the past 18 years,  I poured my love for art into each scrapbook page.

About 7 years ago,  I decided I wanted to start painting and drawing again...and I haven't stopped since!  Over the last few years,  I have added wooden sign making to my artwork list. I enjoy taking a simple piece of wood or canvas and turning into something fun that will hopefully speak to you as much as it does to me.

Art has become a place of serenity, peace, and expression for me and I truly love every ounce of it.  I am so lucky to have a loving husband who supports me along each avenue I take in my art. He gladly builds whatever sign I need and I really think he enjoys the process as well...watching them turn into art.

Directions:

1. Put together the board strips randomly

2. Stain with one coat of Weathered Wood

3. Sketch out the mountains and sun

4. Using your craft paints - starting with the red and yellow - begin painting your sunset scene. I like to start with the red, work in the yellow and then the blues. Once I have the paints layered then I use a wet paint brush to begin mixing in the colors together for a seamless blending of color.

5. Using the Perfect Paints Shimmering Matte Acrylic Paints ~  Rainstorm, paint over in random areas of the ocean

6. Once the sky and ocean is complete, then paint the mountains

7. I like to give everything a few hours to dry before working on the moon and reflects

8. Once dry paint the moon using Perfect Paints Shimmering  Matte Acrylic Paints ~ Halo

9. Work in the highlights of the moon gently with the side of your paintbrush.

10. Let dry overnight

11. Sand the edges and into the painting so that it has a rusty, old look

12. Add the decal (which I made using my vinyl cutter) or hand paint your letters

13. Seal with a good indoor/outdoor sealer such as Perfect Paints Gloss Medium & Varnish!
